If the previous series in “Sounds” evoke a time which passes harmoniously and with musical cadences, gongs—especially when they hang in solemn and solitary fashion from ceilings—strike a strident note, making a pause within time.

Then, as the series progresses we observe the artist’s distinctive signatures.

The circular shapes of the gongs are added to circles and curves which populate the oeuvre of Susana Lescano albeit with the suggestion of punctuality and orderliness, an internal order intimately bound up with harmony.

This internal unit is always underscored (arguably as a potential problem) by interior forms which split or pierce the sense of unity.
